Web-based resources

There are many sources of information about drugs and alcohol, some of them better than others. Listed below is a small number of sites which would generally be expected to be reasonably reliable, objective and up-to-date. Drugs and related issues

Talk to Frank and DrugScope provide regularly updated information about commonly used drugs and their effects.

Alcohol and related issues

Alcohol Concern and the Institute of Alcohol Studies provide detailed and frequently updated guidance about alcohol and its effects. See also Alcohol Concern's How's Your Drink site.

Publications

A number of agencies also provide publications covering the facts about drug and alcohol, and related issues - intended for use by practitioners and/or for distribution to people with drug and alcohol problems. Some of these agencies are listed below. [Again, please note that inclusion in this list should not be taken to indicate endorsement of the publications these agencies produce.]

Drugs and related issues

DrugScope, Healthwise and HIT all produce publications on drugs and related issues, distributed through HIT. Other publishers in this area include Exchange and Lifeline.

Alcohol and related issues

Alcohol Concern, HIT and Healthwise and produce a range of publications for practitioners and service users on alcohol and related issues (note Healthwise publications are distributed by HIT).
